In the neighborhood

Image
Since Spring has sprung a month early, I have started up my weekend walks and found a treasure trove of stuff now that the snows have receded (don't tell me there's no global warming). I'm really not sure what these are. And perhaps I don't want to know. "Help, I'm trapped" Stray hearing protection

Take a look around

This was found on a stroll through Uptown. I should have taken the picture the first time I saw it, because it was on the ground; the next time, it was around the pole. I don't think it got there by itself. The ATM by TCF in the IDS is a great place to find mittens and books. Sadly, I never find any cash.

Motivated by food and music

Planning continues for the great summer extravaganza. It's only four months away, and I realize I need to work on my French. I should brush up on some Spanish phrases too. I've got an all day trip planned through Spain, France and Andorra; tiny Andorra, I'm so excited. And the four concerts have me pretty thrilled as well. I'm trying to be pretty organized because I won't have a lot of time in any one particular place. Looking forward to paella in Barcelona; some delicious patisserie in Paris; cheese in Amsterdam (actually cheese everywhere); my friend is trying to convince me to try vegetarian haggis in Edinburgh, but I'm a little leery. It's all about the food and music for me. Hello, it's me and 100,000 of my closest friends at Wembley.

I spy with my little eye...

I've been trying different routes in the morning, hoping to come upon some good finds, but I found the first little beauty on my trusted route through Ramp A near the Target Center. About damn time, too, because that it where I had the highest hopes and it's the first thing I found here. It looks like a high quality glove. I hope it found its mate. I don't know if this is cheating, but I found this next photo on the 479 bus heading to Apple Valley. I try to be really cool when I take pictures because I'm afraid of looking like some weirdo. That's the risk I guess. The scavenger hunt has rubbed off on a few of my friends. This is from my friend Rachel, taken in the IDS Center near the TCF ATM. It's not clothing, but I think it's in the spirit of the chase.

A shoe here, a sock there

You have to seize opportunity whenever it presents itself. If it rears its head on the train platform, go for it. This is at the light rail stop near Target Field. Looks like a woman's shoe with quite a heel, not what I would wear in the winter (okay, I would never wear this at any time). I'm not sure what would possess someone to remove their shoes and socks in January, but it seems like they may have done just that. A little help from my friend. I told her I was not having a lot of like finding a lot of stray clothing, so, she sent me this pic from her walk in the skyway. Apparently, it's a muff, and this is from the Rand Tower skyway (a lovely example of art deco, one of my favorite architectural periods). You can help fund my trip if you would like to buy my book Oh, You're a Vegetable for your electronic reading device.
