Reflecting

For obvious reason any travel plans have been put on hold. I've been walking in big circles around my neighborhood and appreciating the relative quiet and the time to think and reflect. I've seen the trees blossom, I've seen an creative and artistic neighbor paint rocks with inspirational messages, I've watched as a family of geese waddled, somewhat indecisively, across the street, and I've just thought about things. I feel that traveling opens your mind and your heart to new people, new ideas and ways of doing things, and can help build bridges. I don't even think you have travel thousands of miles to learn discover that, just be open to it, whether it's walking around downtown Minneapolis looking for painted pianos, taking an early morning walk and laughing with a total stranger about the silly goose antics, or noticing things right in front of you. The latter is what happened to me today as I walked to the library. The parking lot was totally empty because the library is closed, but someone took the opportunity to write the names of black Americans killed with impunity. The names were in chalk and it's raining now and they'll probably be gone tomorrow, washed away. I took photos and have presented them here. #saytheirnames
